Installing fibre optic cables is crucial for connecting equipment rooms and telecommunications closets in various network solutions like multi-building networks and ideal for hotels/accommodation properties that require high-speed data transfer between rooms/buildings. It serves as the primary connection for the backbone of the network alongside instances of copper cable options such as Cat6 (up to 90m in length).
The challenge in using copper cables increases due to the high demand for high speed and longer transmission distances (copper can’t be used for over 90m) and where electromagnetic interference can be a problem. This can be very evident in buildings with large quantities of inductive loads (eg. Aircon units) and can severely affect performance of a network using traditional copper cabling.
Optical fibre offers much higher data rates and the low loss of fibre allows for far longer cable runs without the need to include repeater equipment. Optical fibre is not effected by electromagnetic interference, the elimination of signal distortion greatly enhances reliability, speed, and security. This is where using fibre as an alternative, at least for the network backbone between areas can have a significant performance value.

A large proportion of network issues stem from inadequate testing of cabling at the time of installation. All installations of our CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a structured cabling and fibre optic are finalised with testing. Our engineers will splice all single mode fibre where possible to ensure the best performance and provide a test report post-installation.
We possess experience in IT service and installation for a variety of sites, including both large and small locations, ranging from individual offices to multi-story projects. Our team, who have extensive experience in the industry, can install your system efficiently to reduce downtime to your existing network infrastructure. We can test cables to Verify they are capable of transmitting the intended network signals at the intended speeds eg. 1000BASE-T. This test assesses the Bit Error Rate (BERT) of the network while also measuring wire-map, pair skew, pair signal to noise ratio and length.
Utilising an Enterprise Services Tester a full network discovery can be perfomed to identify devices on the network. We can also check for issues where network packets are being dropped to identify trouble spots on the network.
